Well, I got the replacement box and pump back onto the car yesterday,(again thank you John Wallett for supplying me with both!) coupled up the doughnut assembly, needed to read the w/s manual to work out how to reassemble the doughnut assembly . I am going to replace the track rod ends. The inner track rod ends are a l/h thread and a r/h thread. Sitting in the drivers seat can anyone tell me which one is which?. The outer ones I believe are standard anti clock wise. If I can't get them off I will take them to a local garage for removal as I need the PAS/PUMP pipes blown through using an air line to remove any swarf that may be in there. I actually enjoyed doing it rather then pay someone else to do it. I put a camshaft in my Mk1 Capri once and removed the engine but feel I could take on more tasks if needed with a higher level of confidence. ;D

On mine the n/s is the "wrong" way thread but it does not matter which way round the track rod is put on the car and I have come across them both ways.
Some heat from an oxyaccetyline torch with the track rod in the the vice has never failed to move these so try both ways with a good o/e spanner.
make sure you set it to the length the manual set and with the outer track rods equal lenght as if not uneven tyre wear will arise even though the steering toe is accurately set parallel on straight ahead
Wash the lines through well with parafin before you have them blown through as the sticky oil will keep the metal bits stuck inside

Many thanks Phil. I have counted the number of threads visible (8) so they will be back in the same position when replaced.

Thank you John, I am taking the track rod ends and pas pipes down to the garage today. I must add that I reached the status of "Maniac" many years ago ;D
