Hi
I now have a pair of reconditioned front window winders for a P5b coupe.
Thanks to good old uncle Tom Wilson
Cost NOTHING ( well I gave him a pair of very good
desmo door mirrors I also gave him a virtually new Kumo tyre , I got a pair
from Dave Richards he changed his to 205's I think)
Its good if you can help each other out.
I have stripped a few doors for spares so know what's ahead of me.
Why are the coupe front winders so bad?
I have had 4 coupe's all with knackerd front window winders
I gave Tom 4 front winders and 2 good back ones.
This job involved drilling rivets replacing the very worn actuators then re riveting and welding the overly large holes at the back then redrilling the holes to the correct size
The winders seem perfect now thanks Tom, He's not so keen to help me fit
them though
Still it will be great to have windows that open and close
I think Tom is going to write an article for Take 5
My car is going great trying to use it as much as possible
I have changed all of the seats apart from the rear seat backs they are all buckskin ,in good condition, just need to recolour them now , put new carpets in and inertia reel seat belts which are black but are good for the sanity and safety I think.
I have also tidied the boot putting back all the bits and pieces and its looking really clean and tidy
love the sound and power of the vittesse engine
getting there chaz

Have you seen the size of Toms' hands - they may be good for lifting oil rigs and battleships but no good for manourvering a Coupe winding mechanism.
The whole lot is far to week to support a wide heavy drop glass especially when trying to move it in wet/soggy/worn window channels.
Its one of theose jobs like fitting P5 winbscreens, brake caliper boots, ball joint tapers without any special tools. The more you do it the easier it is

Will Tom produce these for cash? Both of mine are shot so I'm on the look-out for a reconditioned set.

Hi
window winders are done
The doors came apart pretty easily the small star screws under the chrome
plate on the passenger side were a bit stubborn but moved after a soaking and being
introduced to the impact driver moved if not easily they did come out eventually
It's great to have 4 working window winders
I have now got the door trim complete with pull handle and window winder/
door opener complete with retaining springs not falling off. i had to keep
taking the cards off to shut the windows hellish
The interior is looking really good now.
I need to get headrest brackets and a woolies kit for the buckskin interior
although the car has a nice patina about it just now. Easy to forget how bad it
looks outside now a mixture of zircon blue and red lead.
Can't wait to get it painted
I don't know jimjam are you in Scotland
I will need to ask him
cheers chaz

If only! I'm based in NZ but am English so any parts can be supplied to a UK address and paid for out of a UK account etc. I'd appreciate it if you could find out - it'd be nice to have working windows again!

Thanks for that - P6 parts are a bit easier to come by. I'll check it out.
