Hi all i took one of the heads of today and the top edge of one of the pistons looks like it has melted and on the head has melted i looked at the bore and that is scorded down one side what could have caused this

Lack of oil...............or changes.
Over lean mixture.
Overheating.
Running without, or damaged air filters.
You are not having much luck with this are you ?

Was that the engine where you fitted a larger/longer oil pump? Probably meant that there was no oil pressure at all.

no that was in my p5b engine the range rover engine i have not done any thing to apart from starting to strip down and found the problem with the piston and the head Now i am going to start on my p5b engine put new bearings in the top end i have done i just need to find out what size bearings i need to get
