I might need to fit rear seat belts. A search yielded some interesting information. Unfortunately, images of the mounting points were mentioned but I could not find any. If they are available I'd be very interested, as I am technically severely challenged and would find illustrations very helpful. Also, if you have fitted rear seat belts in a P5B I'd be keen to hear from you. - Where did you get the belts from?
- How did you do it?
- What particular problems did you encounter? ==> and how did you solve them?
Cheers Peter

Hello I have done this recently on my Mk III -67 saloon. all p5 from Mk II, suffix C, is the same. I used a set of rear inertia reel belts from a p6 -70, it is the same application as p5. You can also use a set from a Citroen CX. watch: www.securon.co.uk/ for a list of applications. If you can excuse my English I will try to explain. You need 7/16" unf bolts, the two for the rear parcel shelf must be long. 1. Remove the tank trim. 2. Remove the four bolts that hold the rear seat. 3. Lift out the rear seat and the rear seat squab. 4. Remove the two small screw that hold the rear parcel shelf (they are under the trim at each end of the parcel shelf) 5. Now you can find the mounting points, there is a large X bolt in them. 6. Remove the X bolt, this is the tricky bit if they have rusted. (I was forced to drill one of mine) 7. Fit the seat belts with the 7/16" bolts, on the rear parcel shelf you must use a spacer between the mounting point and the hole in the shelf ca 4 cm. You can take the opportunity to fit a new speaker 6,5" when you have the parcel off. 8. Reverse the procedure. Regards Lars

Nothing wrong with that English Lars. Very clear and easy to follow. Another thread for me to bookmark. Changing the rear seatbelts is another job I have to do eventually.

Dear Lars Firstly, I agree with Warwick that you should not apologise for your English. Your name looks Swedish and I sure don't know any words from a Scandinavian language apart from 'Skol', which I learned from a Norwegian friend of mine during lazy and, above all, hazy student days. Coming back to the seat belts, your description of fitting the reels to the parcel shelf is excellent but where did you find the lower mounting pints for the belt bracket and the buckle? By the way, thanks also for the Securon address. I have had a look at their website and it is very informative. Peter

Sorry, forgot to ask: Which connection type for the buckle did you use - webbing, metal strap, ...?

Hello
I used webbing with a buckle. It is an old belt from a p6 -70. In Sweden it was compulsory with four reel belts from ca 1970. I think it is a belt that the Swedish agent installed. Now we have a law that make it compulsory with belts and child seats, in all cars if you have children in them. (all cars even a T-Ford)
You will find the lower mounting points where the rear seat back meets the squab, one on each side of the propeller shaft tunnel. It is a large x-bolt in them.
Regards
Lars
