This is just for future reference so people can find it easier. The part numbers for V8 thermostats are: - 82oC ==> QTH (Quinton Hazell) 100K or MTO 100K
- 88oC ==> Halfords HTK 600
Please note that gaskets come with these thermostats but - surprise, surprise - they don't fit. As things stand (Sept. 07), if you go to a motor factor you will have to order a gasket separately (e.g. Wadhams). Peter

A gasket is very easy to make if you can buy a piece of gasket paper (in emergency, cornflakes packet with Hylomar will get you out of trouble!)

John is right about the gaskets. I got a thermostat from Halfords and there were more gaskets with it than you could poke a stick at - none of which fitted. Our local motor factor stocked gasket material and it was easy to cut to shape from the old gasket. Could have done with a punch for the bolt holes but small nail scissors did the trick. A little blue hylomar and job done.

If you realy want some there are a few old time Arkwright farmer suppliers in the Fens one in particular has been there since the early 1900's when you go in the so called store room it's like a farmer's autojumble

Cornflakes cardboard, greased is perfect for the job. Hole punches are best for the holes and these can be made from 8mm/10mm copper tube sharpened to a knife edge if you do not want to buy one!
