can anybody help please??? I have a intermitent problem with the indicator switch on a 1970 p5b saloon.sometimes it does not indicate at a steady rate but it seems to hesitate and slow down before it resumes to a steady flash.it seems like an earth problem but i do not know where to look, i have had the switch apart but that seems to be o.k. norman

I would recommend you change the indicator flasher unit to a modern type which is not sensitive to voltage.
Check back in the previous postings for the procedure to fit a Mondeo flasher, this worked for me.

Everyone seems to have trouble with indicators. It probably is an earth problem, and it is a case of starting at the front indicators, then the repeaters, then the rear ones. it's a case of making sure the earth contacts are corrosion free, and if possible a coat of vaseline when cleaned will help. The other day I had the problem where only one side would flash, and the otherside stayed on. I thought that the front bulb had failed, but it hadn't. After removing the bulb a quick spray of WD40 and manually working the contact spring a few times cured the fault. I must admit though I don't have any problem with the speed of flash, they are roughly the same.

We don't all have problems with indicators!! (Now I bet the bu**ers play up!)
It is true that many problems are due to corrosion at bulb holders and terminals etc. Eventually switch problems occur too.
Cheers

Adrian, you'll probably find a lot of members have problems with these but just don't own up to the fact.
