bit daft this one, the perfect material to repair a broken courtesy light switch is a chopstick(honestly) a plastic one of course !

Can you elaborate on this more fully?

what you do is take an ivory coloured chopstick,it is nearly the right colour and the end that you hold in your hand is a round cornered rectangle, then a little filing will have it the right size to cut off to replace a broken courtesy light switch plunger

I'm with you now, you are in fact referring to the door switches, not the switch on the actual courtesy light.
