I've bought a new 6RA relay to replace a faulty one on my P5B. The one fitted to the car is a modern plastic cube style relay, the markings of which don't correspond with those on the 6RA.
Does anyone know which coloured wire goes to which relay terminal, please?

The modern sealed relays are more reliable although it must be heavy duty.
Its important to identify the winding terminals which carry the activitaing current and in this case its the white and black lightish weight cables which were on the W1 & W2 terminals of the 6RA (it does not matter which way round as long as you get the right pair)
The load is the heavy weight Brown/blue (two of) and the main battery brown cable (i of) these go to the C1/C2 terminals - the new relay will usually have a pictorial diagram on the case - the C terminals are the ones each side of the open line which signifies the single pole switch which is all the relay is.
Post a picture if you want - continental ones use a variety of numbers and letters again say which ones and I will identify

Thanks very much for that Phil.
The 'new' relay is a Lucas one (old new stock) with the terminals marked C1/C2 & W1/W2 as you described. I should be able to sort out the wires thanks to your description of the colours.
Many Thanks
Paul
