The wipers on my '72 Coupe are very slow for quite a while after first being switched on. Have tried a different pot, both both seem to have the same resistance readings and when moved to full speed there is no resistance in circuit anyway. Any ideas It looks to be the original wiper motor and it has the correct wiper arms/blades fitted.

It seems to me you have dry tubes and spindles and perhaps seized motor bearings. Removal of motor and rack for cleaning and regreasing is called for. Clean out the bundy tubes with parafin and regrease the rack. Be very careful taking off the spring clip that holds the rack arm to the big gear wheel in wiper gear box as it is very powerful and will launch into a dark corner and be forever lost

Thanks Phil, I assume that general purpose grease is OK for the Job.

Yes that's OK although they used a more lighter slippery version I think but I do not know what

The book calls for Retinax A. I am reliably informed the equivelant is a lithium base grease.

Thanks one & all. I will disconnect wipers at motor first just to make sure that it is the tubes that are tight. Steve M
