superb.. Ole muggings here just signed up with adrian flux £138 quid thats with european breakdown recovery , fully comp too. I need it for Saturday, it's the big day . I'm off to the isle of white to collect my fat bird, no MOT but B****r it "you'll never take me alive copper ! " Scarlett. Will I sincerely hope that you don't kill or injure anyone whilst driving a vehicle that has been inspected and found to be unroadworthy, is untaxed and (essentially) uninsured as the insurance company will refuse to pay out due to the circumstances. You are of course aware that should you cause any damage (persons or property) and the insurance co refuse to pay out, that you will be personally liable for potentially million in damages? Worth a thought You would have been better off spending the insurance money on transporting the vehicle. Still, if you are caught, I expect the courts will be lenient and you may get away without a license ban. You don't need your license for your job do you? Oh, and BTW, the glib "you'll never take me alive copper" is very funny. and should help your case in court enormously.

As Smallfry says, book an appointment with your local MOT man. You are allowed drive your car (the length of the country if you like) to a pre booked MOT test even if you have no current test certificate. In this case I imagine your insurance would be valid.

Woah there sheriff!! I'm only driving it on the island from the guys house to the ferry and I've my A- frame to tow it once back in Blighty but it's cheaper to leave my freelander at portsmouth then go one way as a foot passenger and return in one car than over there in one car then return in two.So chill out I may be J.J but I aint B.T. K.. "Glib" ? who says Glib anyway ?

You will give yourself so much grief driving it back, that the transport costs will be nothing in comparison.Plus if it has no RFL you'll get done for all the back tax as well. I've just seen you intend to tow it back once on the mainland, so sorry for jumping the gun there. Remember you should disconnect the prop to tow it that distance. (unless you tow it backwards of course, on a spectacle type dolly rather than an A frame, if so, don't forget to make a good job of securing the steering) Good Luck!
