Hi all
has anybody installed hazard warning lights to a p5b coupe. Where do I wire the flasher unit to? A rough diagram would be great. I have a suitable switch and flasher unit.
Many Thanks Karl

The chances are that yours is different to mine which my brother gave me for Christmas in 1975 ! It is still on the car and still works. Obviously the red goes to power (cigar lighter ?). There are 4 blue wires that go to each bulb. Then find the existing wire that runs from the flasher unit to the indicator switch, cut this and join each end to the 2 green wires that come from the hazard unit. If you have a fax I could send the diagram.

The standard wiring for the twin flasher unit set up will just need to tap into each side of the flashers. There are several places this can be done eg under the column to the switch bullet connectors, at the intrument for the warning lights or at the side repeater connection behind the kick panels. The fused cigar lighter pick up is an ideal place for the battery feed as long as the hazards are not operated at the same time as the cigar lighter!
As GP says the feed from the existing flasher unit must be broken so that it goes through the hazard warning light switch which just merely cuts out the flasher uniy and connects in the hazard unit flasher together with both sides indicator lamps

Richard Spratley will fit them for you, if you don't want to do it yourself. I have seen hazard warning light kits in Vehicle Wiring products catalogue. Personally, even though my coupe has a sophistacated alarm and central locking, and several other upgrades to make it more reliable, I have a £3.99 flashing lantern for when I break down, and a hazard triangle. The hazards arn't as bright, and just would be something else to go wrong.
Good Luck!

Have sent you an email, but the P5 is taking me to Scotland for a week. So will do it as soon as I return.
