The black earthing wires end with bullet type connectors which slot into 4 armed earthing brackets which are then screwed by a self tapper to the inner wings. I need to replace a couple of these fittings which have broken due to metal fatique and age. Can I still get them or can I get something similar to slot the earth wires into? I don't really want to change the bullets unless I have to. Thanks all

Yes its even on here somewhere - try SEARCH. Frankly you will have less problems with fiting eyelet connectors bolted to a cleaned off hole drilled into the inner wing. With any method coat everything in Vaseline to keep out corrosion inducing moisture

JRW has them. You may have to ask. I agree about the bullets as they are easier to pull through the rubber grommets when doing maintenance.

I have now received my brand new shiny earthing brackets and I have cleaned up a spare bullet to repair a broken earth wire on the front n/s inner wing. To do the job properly, the bullet should be soldered to the earth wire but would be equally ok just pulled through and spread before pushing into the bracket. Anyway, I want to do the job properly so will attempt to solder the wire into the bullet but I've only got two arms and no assistance so in my experience most of the heat from the soldering iron dissipates through the pliers etc with which you are trying to hold the wire and the bullet together. Any tips please?

Lucar actually made parallel sided versions jsut to do this very job and you should find this type on the side and indicator lights. Your stop gap method will be OK for a time.
I have got an expensive special crimping device to crimp the bullet connectors on which is almost as good as soldering and is the way most of loom was made anyway later.
This type of earthing connecter is not very efficient anyway your version will probably be as good as is needed - to test see if they get warm after having the headlamps on for a spell
Cheaper versions can be bought to use with those coloured ended versions but this will not work with the Lucas bullets as they are too thick.
Look on Vehicle Wiring Products website

Dont hold the bullet with pliers. It will draw the heat resulting in a dry joint. The way to go is to pull excess wire through and splay it slightly. Solder it and cut the excess off. I think the new earthing clips are now made of stainless so the old problems of cracking are now a thing of the past.
