Hi all im sure you all know how this feels 2 months ago i discovered servere rot on the outer sill spacer sill and front lower wing of my 3 litre. So i set about it with the grinder welder etc etc . When it came to grinding down the welds and a skim of filler over the joins i was feeling rather confident that the job was going well. Then came the primer which highligted every single inperfection ,not to worry i thought little more filling little more sanding the job was looking really good. another coat of primer and sucsess looking really good now [not bad for a builder i thought] flattend that down with some 600 grit. Ready for top coat now so off i goes down to my local paint factor with old piece of wing under my arm. This is where the problem started the car has been resprayed before i got it and not to the origanal colour now this is a rolling restoration so i have always intented to return the car to its original colour , but for now i like to keep it tidy . So after many many paint swatches we agreed on a colour yes youve guessed i have top coated the sill front lower and rear lower wings and the colour does not match i am so gutted i will have to bring the respray forward to early next year . Does anyone know what a full respray would cost for a car like this ? Anyway im sure i will get over this just needed to sound off to you guys , the wife thinks its fine and thinks im making a fuss [ they just dont understand do they ] IF you see me at a show please dont take the p**s at my two tone coupe. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
