Powder coating was only in its infancy back in 50/60's. It would have been far too expensive for the Automotive industry then. It was more widely used from the mid seventies onwards.

If they're stainless steel though (as you're planning) that will look better anyway.

Slight co*k up It won't let me say thingy up, I have 20 pairs in mild steel. I am considering painting them black any ideas or else I will buy another 20 P5B'S before I die ;D

Hmmmm if they are rust free Glenn I would let your customer decide if they wan't paint or powdercoat after they buy them

Glenn you'll have to spray them in High Temperature black paint. Ideally they should then be baked if you can get them in the oven without the otherhalf knowing. ;D

They are meant to be black painted - to be totally original this should be as thin a coat as possible in the cheapest black gloss chassis enamel so no primer is required.
It will then quickly flake off and cause the wires to rust within a few months as it did when the cars were new

Thanks all. I am going to get a price for twenty to be powder coated, if not I will get them painted and oven baked at my local restorers using a suitable paint. I am not looking to make on them, as long as I break even I am happy to do it.

Oh, I thought stainless was the plan. I may still be interested in powder coated items but if painted I'll just repaint my own. Let us know how much the coated items will be.
