Originally in mechanical, but more to do with electrical. I am seeking an earth lead/wire for my 1968 3.5. I have a picture now which may help someone help me. The offending article is in the picture at about 9:00 oclock its the 'J' shape covered in black insulation tape that I am too nervous to remove. Apparently its a thin piece of wire that brings earth the plate the points sit on . Its permanently flexed as you accelerate etc..... Early Metro's may have had similar?? Any help on where i can get another one from would be greatly appreciated

Yes I have looked at mine and they have small diameter very flexible earth lead - it needs to so the baseplate moves ith the vac advance etc. Your may not be totally free to do this as it is. You will get these from autojumbles specialists but the best is apparently MO. quite a few years ago certain "entrepreneurs" bought up all old parts stock and would not supply it excpt via a rather expensive exchange reco dizzy. This changed recently. www.distributordoctor.com - this is now the best !!

Sorry for the delay in saying thanks. Things have been a bit mad recently and i haven't been paying much attention to cars. Having been recently reassured my low oil pressure is gauge related (also having sailed through an MOT) my family and I set out this morning for a jaunt, first time for months, only to conk at at a nearby roundabout . I pushed the car out of the way(ish) and 10 minutes later it started again so we headed home....... Magic is fading at present!

Lack of use! Weak fuel pump not overcoming fuel vaporsiation (convert to electric - use SEARCH) faulty coil/condenser/connections. Any sigen od verheating through blocked rad/retarded ignition etc Do not give up - they do start again and problems are easily solved and usually do not give total failure as with modern cars
