Hi, Continuing the removal of several bits, I removed the screens moulding. Besides some rust on the clips (only the front bottom ones) I´ve discovered one thing that doesnt sound original: This aluminium strip is not original is it? More photos: Under the wheel arch I found this hole (it had also a gromet on the inside wich indicates that a wire passed there. Dont seem logic to have an hole in a place where water can enter, so it must not be factory made. Probably something to do with the parcel shelf work that has been done( ) Miguel

The hole is not original - as far as i can make out.
Al the clips can be supplied by Wadhams and the corrision you have is typical and is actually better than most.
The foront and rear screen sare held in position just by the clip and poudns of DumDum to seal. The rubber seals only lip round the glass butjust rest on the the steel body frame. No wonder they leak but the technique is universal now with modern cars but they use a powerful adhesive so rubber and screwed clips are not required.

The Ali strips are not correct Miguel neather is the clip/strip in the second picture that should be where it is in the third picture. Sorry I should not have assumed Rover would fit the two screens the same way

I have just dismantled the front screen on my 1969 saloon and confirm the ally strips are correct. I have some pics to post shortly showing the postioning of all th clips. This screen has never been removed till now

Never having done a saloon yet Phil! only coupes the strips I can take as being a normal fitment? they make sence better than washers, so the ones on the top moulding are also correct? they do the same job as on the bottom moulding.

Yes there are 2 parts to the clips + the large metal tabs - washers are also used to line up and not all screws have clips with them. Hardly surprising they soon started leaking. The rear screen as no alloy parts but has some special smaller clips at the corners

Looks like my wind screen has never been out too. So the strips and the larger clips are correct. These larger clips must be out before rmoving the moulding (only realized that after). Are these large clips available? My bottom ones are a mess. As for the rear glass, Phil do you mean this shorter clip? Looks like we are at the same stage of dismantling... An idea: why dont you restore yours also... that would be perfect I´ve got als a problem with my front windscreen. My Dad used to give the car to my uncle when he needed... Always returned with some problem... One rainy day he didnt saw that the whipper was with the rubber dislogde and he scratched the glass (passenger side). Trying to fix he did worse. My Dad went silently furious (I´ll never forget his face). From then that scratch was always present. I´ve been searching for some polish/repair Kit in the web. Does anybody have had a similar job to do? and any recommended product? Thanks Miguel
