I am looking for a few options with regards to fuses box/relays etc.
I have fitted a modern alternator so no longer need the external regulator and bits. I will also be fitting relays for the halogen lamps.
I want to retain a decent period look so don't want silly plastic relays next to the fuse box. What I will probably do is wire the lamps to relays somewhere handy under the front parcel shelf.
I was just wondering what other members have done. I could leave the 4tr etc in place with the wires cut in the loom but that would look odd. Did the later p5b have an 11ac fitted and if not how did the fuse box area look?
Thanks Colin

No P5B had a regulated ACR fitted. it depends what statement you want to say - it does no harm leaving the old units in place provided they are discretely disconnected. Most would not recognise a later unit - it up to you.
I think the long fuse box is fast becoming a weak point in addition to the console light switch and ignotion switches (both types) Upgarde to a modern one with reliable connections and crack and tracking free base. I have a number of these fail and cause intermittent electrical faults - decent second hand ones are beoming rare
At the moment I have no issue swith the standard alternator set up but if more power is required then upgrade is essential.
If you are wanting a reliable daily runner rather than an occasional fine day museum piece then modern upgrades are vital
