No book! Just looking at as many cars as possible - some are correct, some are not - try to find a genuinely original one. There are plenty of photos on here and on various links.
A parts list and workshop manual are essnetial and the club does them both. Some of the drawings are helpful but realise that they are artists drawings not the engineering drawings.
Good luck anyway

Torsion Bar is on the ball Service Manual and the Parts Manual are essential in my opinion on a restoration project the Parts one is more important a lot of the time. My advice is to tackle one thing at a time start on a small project till you get used to welding/fitting/prefabricating parts and don't rush it, try and find a local member who knows the In's and outs and ask his/her advice. Good Luck

Notebook, so you can note where everything should go, when you put it back together ;D

I'd take the phone book and look up David Green!
Seriously, good luck with the car - the James Taylor book is great for detailed photos eg the notoriously hard-to-get-right coachline. Andy

A P5 without any welding is very rare beast as is one without filler - even Rover had to lead load all over the place to hide the joins and poor panel fit. It does not stop the rust getting though unfortunately
