Hi Pascal here from Ireland and I am just about to buy a p5b in the next two weeks. THe car I am buying is running on leaded fuel and I am wondering how much it costs to convert? not sure if we still use leaded here .. Thanks Pascal

It does not need leaded - its the octane it really needs however if the timing is retartded a little up to 6 deg max the performance is hardly affected. Many owners including myself have always run on unleaded since LRP came out as this stuff caused overheating and vapor locking in in winter. I have done over 50k miles since without any problem.
Try SEARCH but give it a long time span say 700 days
Hope you get the car you want - look at the buying tips first - they always LOOK better than they really are and go for body/trim rather than mechanicals as that is where you will never have enough money to sort out properly unless you have very fat wallet!

If for any reason the heads have to be removed its worth fitting the SD1 type with the larger valves and also fitting a thicker head and inlet manifold gasket. Alllow approx £1000 for a garage to do this Wadhams do all the bits. Alternatively fit low compression pistons - very expensive though.
Its not necessary though although some say on pre 70 heads the valve seats were of different type although they always had the same part number.
You have nothing to loose but to try running neat unleaded with octane additive if pinking cannot be stopped by retard. VSR only occurs at sustained high speed driving with revs over 3000 rpm which is just about the legal limit anyway in UK and Ireland with a P5B.
It really depends what you intend doing with the car - occasional weekend drives are not going to do any harm including the burn out.

I agree with Phil on this one, What have you got to loose if you run on unleaded and drive carefully. As they say "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!". Happy Rovering to all this Christmas and lets see MORE P5's and P5B's out on the roads (more often) in the New Year! Adrian
