Hi guys, I have been looking into new side lamps for a while. I tried a few things and have found something that I am happy with now. I am sure others will have done similar but wanted to share the results. I had a L594 single filament bulb holder as found on early landrover and mini etc. The previous owner had tried to fix this with putty or something similar. Having been playing around with a product by "solder-it" called solder paste, I used this to fix them together. The beauty is that it is comparable to welding but the paste melts at a lower temperature. I was able to join the L594 with the remains of the original side light without the plastic melting. As a picture paints a thousand words have a look below. I had tried the plastic units last year but found that they were to big to go through the wing without opening the aperture somewhat. Colin

Very neat - I have seen this done before - I just clamp the 2 together with the (stainless) fixing screws.
I have used a plastic Land Rover bulbholder which cost £2 approx - these also use the bigger BA15s bulb cap - the original used BA9s
I put plenty of Denso Tape round the back to try to seal out the water that will travel down the cables - messy but effective. Same is goodr for the indicators as the rubber boot soon perforates

That looks nearly like original. I just fixed a plastic bulb holder from a small motor cycle with epoxy putty. And it fitted through the wings aperture without problem. In the curse of this year I will install inner protectors into the front wings. At the rear I already did this last year. Mark
