Yes, you can download and save video from You-Tube. Method 1You will need Real Player installed on your computer. Go to www.real.comThis will take you to the Real website for your country or region and a web page that looks like this. Click on the button that allows you to download the basic player, which is free. The SuperPass version requires a monthly subscription. Download and save the .exe file to your desktop. When it has finished downloading, double click on the file and start the installation process. Next time you view a You-Tube clip, hover the mouse over the video window and you will notice that a small blue Real Player tab pops up at the top right-hand corner of the video window. It asks if you wish to download the video. Click on this tab and the downloading process will begin. A Real Player downloading window will appear on top of the You-Tube video window. You can drag it to one side, or just click on the You-Tube page to bring it back on top. The clip is saved into a Real Player library which can be accessed by opening Real Player at any time. This will work with Internet Explorer but not with earlier versions of Firefox. If you use Firefox, and this doesn't work; update to Firefox 3, the latest version.

METHOD 2 there is another option, which is not relient on real player which i use,,as it lets tou download it in anyformat you want, like for phone /ipod etc...and its free and easy to use. called "dvdvideosoft free youtube downloader". once downloanded .you just double click on the address bar.select what format you want and it downloads. so you can play it on whatever media player you usually use,and you can mess about with it in moviemaker, etc. you can either search for it or download direct from link below.... free-youtube-download.en.softonic.com/downloadSorry no fancy informative totourial,im not as cleaver as Warwick.."you have the same year and cars as me .but mine drive the right way up"

Thanks mcgill.
Would you mind editing your post to add the heading Method 2 so they spot it easily when scrolling down? I've altered my original one using size 6 font.
I'll have to suss this one out. Sounds very handy.

There is a much better improved software which you can use for downloading free from You Tube and then convert to MPEG fomat. Please look at www.any-video-converter.com/products/for_video_free/ install it and when you want to download from Youtube copy the URL address and select import in the menu which opens a field in which you can copy the URL. A few minutes later you have it donloaded en can then select to which format you wish to encode to such as MPEG. Success

I use Real a lot. Reason is that once you have downloaded something to your Real library it stays there (its on your own hard disk). Before I would go back to a posting on YouTube only to find that the item no longer existed.
