HI, can anybody tell me why the n/s indicators flash slightly faster than the o/s ones, and in the space of 5 months i have had to replace the flasher unit 3 times. iI have looked at the wiring diagram and it shows a 10 volt regulator could this be the problem and if so where is it located and can you still get them new. heres hoping some one out their can help, because people keep waving back every time i stick my arm out the window,THANKS.

Hi johnyrover, mine does the same thing. dont know why,but the 10 volt regulator is located next to and above the hand brake lever,it has green- wires going to it. They are available from vehicle wiring products or e.bay

The fault is nothing to do with the 10v regulator that only feeds the Temperature and the Fuel Guage/Sender these two are in series to earth. As the flash rate is related to current drawn on either side check all is the same bulb wattage etc! bad earths can give high resistance to any bulb holder altering the load making one brighter than the other!

What sort of flasher are you using mechnical or electronic - they are both reliable and should last years so you must have a wiring fault and it is usually a bad earth at the bulbholder or even the whole fiting. The actual feed wires could be corroded too at the bullets at varous points under the bonet and in the boot.
Test voltage by bypassing flasher (connect all three (of both) terminals together so that one side lights continually

It was lucky it did not melt the lens as they are particularly frail and naff - these lamps are definitley a BL sourced product not a Rover Co one subject to their very particular quality requirements. They must have been made specially by Sparto for BLMC as no other manufacturer bothered with them!
