Power steering always used same as the autobox ie ATF non Dexron BW/Ford spec eg Comma AQF. If manual then any ATF type - there are 2 will do Gearbox/overdrive is same as engine or you can use 90EP as used in back axle if not GL4 specification - do not use 80EP or 80/90EP as too light A good qualtity 15w/50 or with worn engines and especially 3 Litres 20w/50 - again Comma do one. Or try Millers Oils, Morris Oils or Castrol classic range. See Oils thread (a STICKY!for specifications) roverp5.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general31&action=display&thread=2579&page=2

Oui! 20w/50 is better for 3 litre engines NEVER any lighter grade or synthetics But Power steering must be a good quality Automatic Transmission Fluid not EP90 as it may not work at all well - see other threads re Power steering problems

Thank you for these answers, but saddened me was understand(include) everything. For the engine, it is OK, but my limps is mechanical with overdrive thus EP 90? And the back axle also? Cordialement, Patrick

Limps - "gearbox"?
I would use 20w/50 in both gearbox and overdrive (they do not share the same oil although they leak into each other) EP90 can be too heavy when cold for the overdrive which is why Rover Co changed it as previously all P4's and early P5's used EP oils. If the gearbox is worn/noisy though EP90 will help it last longer.
Transmission oils are graded differently to engine oils so EP90 is actually same when hot as SAE 50
EP90 must be used in the back axle never 20/50 or any engine oil
