Carburetter restored. New plugs, points, HT leads, condensor etc. Now on switching on, the pump doesn't stop ticking and the engine floods and fails to start. After a mile the sediment bowl has material in it already. With the plugs removed a fountain of fuel blows skywards from 5 and 6 cylinders and the engine floods. So whats going on here!

Have you checked the float chamber, if the needle drops it keeps the float down allowing it to flood

The float chamber needle valkve is clearly leaking (wringly assembled?) - if it is the brasss old type it may just need removing and the debris clearing out - if its the later Viaton tipped (plastic) type it will be damged/degraded and should be replaced. The float chamber AND fuel tank also needs draining and cleaning out before this as the sediment bowl will not stop everything and should not be rtealied on to - use an inline filter as well after the sediment bowl as rust may take some time to clear
