Might need to take dynamo off 3litre mk3 for refurbishment. To anyone who has done it before...do you really have to remove the radiator/ drain coolant etc. as per the w/shop manual or can you do it without? How does the pas pump attach to the dynamo, can't make it out really from manual or looking at the car? Any advice gratefully received....

No need to go to that trouble but it is awkward. Slaken off the belt adjuster - if the bolts are too tight then the rad will have to be drained and removed. Water pump/fan belt can be left untouched. Renew both belts if rad has to come out and adjust per manual
You need to undo the three nuts/bolts fixing the pump to back of the dynamo being careful not to loose the drive bush - leave the pump lines connected so no need to drain the fluid. The nuts can be seen and all are accessible if dyn is swivelled.
Then just undo the three dyno fixings and electrical connections and lift out - heavy!

Thanks Phil, I'll bear that all in mind when I finally get on to it. Cheers.
