Hi
I'm having a problem with the indicator flashing arrows on the instrument panel, both flash at the same time when i indicate. The external indicator lights are fine which suggests that the fault is in the instrument panel (Maybe).
Does anyone have any ideas?

Hi, sounds like an earth problem on the panel lights. Colin

Check GW and the GR wires are connected ok and not corroded both bulbs are connected together one side and go to the flasher unit wire colour LGP, then as Colin says check wiring, bullet connectors etc etc to the rest of the car.

Hi
Thanks very much for the info, i played with the earth as you said and have solved the problem. It appeared that the earth contact on the flasher unit had been connected incorrectly, concequently bridging the supply to the lights.

I have this problem too. Both flashing arrows on the instrument panel flash whichever indicator is selected. All indicator lights work normally. When I remove the panel I can see why. The flasher unit seems to have been replaced in the past. It's a shiny new Lucas SFB115 unit that only has two connectors not three as in the wiring diagram and it is just 'dangling' behind the panel. The two Green wires, I guess 12 Volt supply in and out are connected to one of it's terminals and the Green/Brown wire to the indicator switch to the other terminal. The Green/Purple wire is there but not connected to anything. So looking at the wiring diagram I can see that both indicator warning arrows would come on.
This seems to be the wrong flasher unit. If I replace it what is the reccomended type ? The Lucas SBF105 is a 3 pin unit and a possible candidate. Has anyone done this replacement ?

A 2 pin will need a bit of rewiring as the indicator bulbs will need one side going to earth this is normally done by the three pin unit. "L" goes to the switch the other pin goes to +ve Good Luck

Many thanks. I think that replacing it would be the better solution. I will look at the specs of those available.

If you want an electronic flasher I have a Lucas SFB 162, available on ebay, which works very well. It has 3 terminals;
31 goes to an earth that you need to make up, 49A goes to the switch, wire; light green/brown 49 goes to power, wire; green
The advantage is that the unit will always flash at the correct speed, regardless of battery condition.
