I recently had an unwelcome visitor to my computer in the shape of I believe to be a "Trojan" attack. I had thought my firewall and other security programmes kept my machine clean, but then up pops a screen declaring itself to be Microsoft Security Essentials Alert. The net result of this was to lock down my PC and create havoc whilst I found a way to delete the programme. PLEASE be aware that the Microsoft Security Essentials Alert is a scam, it seeks to con you into paying for a programme to delete a Trojan virus you didn't have until you activated the alert! Microsoft Internet Explorer is riddled with security issues. I never use it.
For my computers and lap-tops I use Mozilla Firefox. It's a free download. I've got 7 machines all using it and I never get any security problems. I also have Kaspersky anti virus software.
For my phone (HTC HD2) I use Opera browser. Again a free download and none of the Internet Explorer issues.

I agree regarding IE, and I too use only Firefox as a browser, yet this Trojan still got in!
BTW, I am NOT endorsing the removal tool cited on the link page in the original posting, it may work or it may not, I did not use it. I used Malwarebytes free programme to remove the Trojan.
