Hello, from Adelaide, Australia. Finally, after far too long, I have my P5 3 litre Coupe back, almost fully restored. Complete engine overhaul, including all bearings (camshaft ones too - tell me how hard to find these here!), new pistons, only a very slight rebore, and new paint job. Now I have oil pressure! ;D Am unsure how to"fix" the drivers door latching mechanism. It's a coupe, and the latching shaft (the bit attached to the locking cam assembly which engages into the door pillar part) is quite wobbly in its bearing, with the result the door unlatches sometimes while driving. Anyone else had this issue, and how is it fixed? Will post some pictures soon. Cheers, Geoff.

Hi
The Coupe latching/locking is critical on hinge/door post lath adjustment - the actual locking cam is not a tight/clsoe fit but should not be overly loose

My Saloon has a similar problem on one of the rear doors: it simply won't latch, and flies open around corners, obviously not a good thing. I've looked for other posts about this, but haven't found anything. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Gordon.

The saloon catches are entirely different and much more reliable - if its correctly adjusted its likely that some part has seized internally so requires cleaning and lubing after removal of the door card to access the linkage and catch

Just a little update on my door situation. After taking apart much more than I needed to, I discovered that the lever that the exterior button pushes wasn't returning after it was pushed. A shot of WD40 and repeated motioned loosened it up and it's now working fine. I'll do the same to the other door.
It seems that most of what's been or gone wrong with my P5 has been the result of lack of use, sitting for years before I got it.
Gordon.
