Hi, last year I was rather disappointed being my first visit to the event that there was a real lack of pre 1970 Rovers. ie: P4, P5 & P6, although luckily we had a small selection of SD1s I hope to improve this year. I know not all were built at Longbridge, but I feel the event is much more than Longbridge, but all MG, Austin and Rover as a whole where. if it was built at Longbridge it's allowed, if it's any form of MG or Rover, perhaps not built a Longbridge it's allow. So I am here to drum up some P5s for the event. I realise it may be a little late notice but I really hope say 3-4 could turn up, 6-8 would be GREAT! So, here is my thread, including photos of last year. Saturday 16th April 2011. Right, I know its a few month off yet, but we can use this thread to get names down and sort any plans like convoys out. ALL MG ROVERS WELCOME. ANY AGE. Basically anything with any relation to Longbridge! It is like a pilgrimage for all enthusiast MGR owners, one guy last year came from Cornwall in a 998cc Metro. So if he can do it- you can! I went from SE London! LONDON & SE CONVOY THREAD FROM CLACKET LANE:forums.mg-rover.org/showthread.php?p=4201570#post4201570Videos of last year: www.youtube.com/watch?v=iax9cTaPypQwww.youtube.com/watch?v=pTKq7im0bm4www.youtube.com/watch?v=0LcAtxMitnISome pics of last year to temp you: [^^ Martin's photos'] SPREAD THE WORD, LETS MAKE THIS BIGGEST MEET YET! I hope some P4s, P5s & P6s can come! Thanks

Surprised Roverguest is disappointed. Why would a P4/P5/P5B be there?
Only Big Kevs wheels are controversial! Love em but they're not original.

P4/P5/P6 would be gladly invited as they are a Rover and this event is a celebration of anything Rover that either came out of Longbridge or was a Rover built elsewhere.
I don't see your point of view really, as if a good selection of P cars and SD1s turned up then you could browse, have chats with other people and also year after year the number would increase.
I think you have the wrong attitude towards these cars. I know that The P5s and P6s are Rover's best moments in motor history but they have to move on with the times, I mean who would of thought the likes of Jaguar would make a diesel, it many not be 'genuine' but is still a Jag.
I know some of you consider our cars not 'proper' Rovers and some to be rebadged Honda Civics but that is a poor attitude in my eyes. It's your call. You will be welcome, I would certainly like to see your cars.
I know a man with a P4 Rover and he is coming and he enjoys the newer cars too.

Hi Roverquest,
Well you did say you were disappointed at the lack of numbers! Perhaps there is a reason?
There has to be more to a brand than a badge. The Rover brand was not always managed properly. Thats putting it euphemistically. Neither was Longbridge.
There is a Jaguar I call a Mondeo. I know you'd disgree!!
Why do you think there is a lack of quality Rovers at this particular show which otherwise attracts hundereds of visitors and their cars?

We are all entitled to our opinions well this is mine , The Rover brand was managed badly in later years that lead to there demise. But many years before that we as a country took great delight in criticizing ever thing that rover did take a look at the maestro or montego for instance not pretty cars by today's standards but very reliable cars trust me i had quite a few . My point is if we had put as much positive energy into buying British as we have negative energy we would still have a great car company, and we had the best for many years . I will be at Longbridge and i will be celebrating old and new rovers with like minded people and i for one am proud to say i drive an old rover and i am just as proud to say that i drive a new rover and what a great car . there is enough room for us all in this world and we should celebrate our heritage that was robbed from under our noses by some very crooked individuals , You may not agree with me and that is your right. Aside from that the common mirth about a jaguar x type being a mondeo gets up my nose yes they share the same floor pan and many parts but drive the same they do not one is still a jag and feels like a jag .

Hi Jimsbruv,
Well hope you enjoy the show. Take a picture of your P5 next to the little Rover police car!!
If the show was called Longbridge I'd be more lenient. But pride of Longbridge?!
Off for some coffee!
