Hi everyone,
my p5 3 litre is more or less there mechanically so now i am going to start on the rot mainly the outer sills and d posts.
What i would like to know is do you have to remove the spot welds from around the base of the b/c post to allow the sill to slip under it then re weld it back.
secondly do you need to remove rear wing to put new d post repair panels in especially the catch box above d post where mine has rusted through, my d posts both inner and outer are made up of a combination of roofing felt wire mesh and filler
any tips and pics on these areas would be a god send.
Best regards Paul

Yes you must - there is also a diagonal brace underneath it which may need a new bottom section welding on to reaffix to the middle sill
The B/C post can be seam and plug welded to the new outer sill
Rear wing must be remopved to d a proper job too and its mounting plate/bracket will be rusty anyway
there are pics of this on here somewhere
