That air cleaner doesn't look to be sitting down on the pegs properly. (Well, I would have to say something wouldn't I, otherwise it just wouldn't be right!, but as you said "nearly finished I suppose you can be forgiven)

Well spotted Harvey, but I think you'll find it's an optical illusion. It's actually the whole car that's lower on that side. It's settled under the weight of the strange, highly polished aluminium contraption in front of the LH carbie. You see most cars don't have them so we are used to seeing the air cleaner horizontal.

Very nice work John. Its certainly one of the neatest engine bays I've seen. Now make sure you don't spoil the finish by starting the engine. * As an aside, does anyone know where the large convoluted connector between the heater fan and the heater unit can be obtained?

Too late engine started David Green would have what you need Vince

Nice shiny AED "i have a spare bonnet if you need it " Servo is as it was Dave I strive to keep it as it was turned out Dipstick sits in a tube! not quite sure what you mean by insert? New cloth wiring with correct colours and pattern old wiring impossible to clean as it was falling apart as most do after 42 years Flame trap is on the rocker cover for sure. The cable is the correct colour on the picture mine is just a bit battle worn I will polish my AED again it's like my Aladdin's Lamp no "Bl**dy" Genie yet Thanks for the offer of a spare Bonnet I have got one already

Thankyou very much John, McGill, and Corbinsteel. It has taken quite a bit of willpower to stop me reporting this thread to Admin. The 3 of you should be ashamed of yourselves. It just isn't right. There are those of us on this forum who are traumatized by photos like yours. We try and we try and we try to find the time, but our engine bays still look like this.

Hey Warwick you're on the way...the labels at the front look reasonably clean and readable. Some parts have already been removed. Work in progress!

Yeah right John. I'm still waiting for him to pick up a spanner and start stripping the 505 parts car that we got last year. (And before anyone chips in with a comment here - yeah, yeah ... I know!)
Vince, I've found that the Volvo steering box doesn't work as well once the pump is removed.
What do you mean Michael? The previous owner told me that the car had the latest heads fitted where Rover eliminated all 3 rows of bolts. They are supposed to have extremely good airflow. I remember him saying that only a fool couldn't see that they were the best heads available.
