I am posting this on behalf of a gentleman who sent me a letter by post. Dear Sir, can anyone help? I have a 1970 P5B Coupe which after much spend and Labour is almost ready to go. I have one remaining problem. The heated rear screen does not work although the switch has 12 Volts and illuminates. Does anyone know where the connections to the scree itself are located? I have had the bottom edge exposed but no connectors. Do I have to remove the headlining to get to it? Any help would be appreciated. Mr C.Edley

If it's the fine wire heater connections are at the top of the screen in the rear removable roof panel, if it is a fine wire 90% chance the wire has broken/corroded in the laminate. The later element (bold) is either side of the rear screen behind the two side cheeks this to can suffer from corrosion but volts can be checked to eliminate the above.

That photo looks like the wire has pulled out the screen like mine had. The wire should have a bullet and snap connector which is on the other side of the little apperture. I managed to solder it back into the glass.
Check for voltage as describe by the other posters. there are lots of dirty connectors. Also remember that it has an in line fuse by the fuse box.
Just re-read the original question. Would the switch lamp illuminate if there was no connection to earth via the screen?
Power comes from the inline fuse to the switch then on a wire up the passenger sider of the car to the rear d-post then goes up and along where it meets the wire from the screen.
So if the switch is illuminate the feed wire could be shorted out to the body.
