May I use this forum to thank Geoff Taylor and all his helpers for putting on the National Rally last weekend. The event was well organised and very enjoyable, despite the rain on Sunday, but unfortunately this has been the norm during what passed for a summer in 2007. A few pictures from Sunday can be found by following this link: [ftp]http://usera.imagecave.com/p5tgc/P5ClubNats07/[/ftp] The only disappointment (apart from the weather) was that more members didn't turn up, what a shy lot P5 owners must be! Usual excuses for non attendance to Mr Editor!

Sorry about the weather, it was fine and sunny till 4.00pm Sunday here. Its very disappointhing for the organisers but after Duxford another round trip of over 200 miles was just too much to contemplate. We have been to so many wet ones already this year and in fact I think there was only 2 that could have been called almost satisfactory weatherwise. We did book months ago and fully planned on going right up to Sat evening and sorry to have missed the 2nd National in a row! Not many left for this season either

I didn't go purely and simply because of the 420 mile round trip.
How many cars were there ?

Hopefully there were more cars at the event than the ones pictured ?
Big Kev.

54 cars attended I believe although i did not count them and mine was not one of them due to a distinct lack of gearbox.
I went along sans Rover to meet some really good friends I have made and to support the club and in particular the organisers of the event.
Perhaps we shouldn't bother with a National if the members would prefer the effort to be invested in other areas.
A BIG thank you from our party from the Midlands to Geoff Taylor and his fellow members for making such a great effort and organising a brilliant event which was only dampened a little by the weather over which he claims he had no control ;-)

Unfortunately for me it was too far to go this year, having already been to both Scotland and Northern Ireland. A great shame about the weather though but unfortunately nothing we can do about it except cross our fingers each weekend. This last weekend was lovely down here on the coast and in fact we haven't seen any rain here for the past two weeks or more, I've lost count now. Everywhere is bone dry through lack of liquid sunshine. Some very nice pics taken there, and it seems as though there is a trend for the colours to be either blue or white, very little other colours.

He did venture out over the w/e. He brought a pair of new front shock absorbers over. Proper P5B ones. I struggled for an hour each side to remove the ludicrous Monroe turbo Gasmatic GTi Ghia deluxe nonsense that I'd put on a fortnight before. I thought the ride was a bit 'sporty' with the first set of replacemnent shocks, but I had a good run out in the country, almost down to Chichester thinking the shocks might settle down a bit and give a better ride with use. On the way home I suffered from blurred, tunnel, forward vision, my teeth rattled, the car crashed over even minor undulations in the road, and the handling was appalling. It had been a nightmare to fit them. Unlike an oil-filled damper, these gas-filled jobs wouldn't stay still. They were forever expanding and expanding until they reached about three feet long. Anyway, I fitted Pat's little treasures and serenity and comfort has been restored. Pat won't be moving his Saloon off his drive until his next door neighbour has finished building his extension. The concrete mixer is sited in the front garden and I'm sure Pat wants to find out just how much of his car can the neighbour can pebble-dashed..... A two-tone Saloon: Admiralty Blue over Stone?
