The Wessex Group will be at the above event, and invite anyone with a P5 or even a P4 or P6 to come and join us. In addition there is another car club arriving from Weymouth (Transport of Yesteryear) so there will be a large variety of cars attending. The railway which is narrow gauge, utilises the old 'Somerset & Dorset' trackbed. It is sited just off the A30 close to Templecombe. At the traffic lights in Henstridge on the A30 turn off to Templecombe then watch for the signs as the entrance is on the RH side. It should be a 10.30 start there.

A mainly overcast sky didn't deter the turnout we had last Sunday. At least it didn't rain. We opened it up to other classic cars and were pleased to see nine or ten Saab's turn up from the Bristol area. Just after eleven, twenty four other Classic vehicles arrived one behind the other from Dorchester where they started on a road run before ending up where we were. They were from the Weymouth club Transport of Yesteryear (TOY Dorset). We managed 3 X P5B Coupes, 2 X P5B Saloons, 2 X P5 Coupes, 1 X P5 Saloon, and 1 X P6 3500S. One P4 Cyclops was going to come but didn't arrive nor did at least three other P5's which had indicated they would be there. In two of the pics John Stacey and David Dallimore claim their moment of fame, not that they knew they were on camera. All in all a most enjoyable day and I hope the visitors from up the M5 enjoyed their time time there. Thanks go to Steve Vine for organising it. Sods law I conked out on the way out, caused by a sticking fuel pump, which I kept having to get out hit it to get some fuel through. Finally after about ten frustrating miles of stop/start, it refused to work at all, and it was a case of call the RAC out. The young lad who arrived had just come from a Morris Minor with a duff rotor arm, so was looking forward to stripping the fuel pump. As he so rightly said, at least he could achieve something and get the customer on their way again without too much hassle. It transpired both he and his Dad were keen Classic car nuts.

You're right Freddy those tyres do look huge, even front on. I must admit I didn't take a lot of notice as I have seen the car several times before. If you want to know the answer the car belongs to John Stacey, although his wife Lyn uses it as her everyday car, so maybe he will respond.

XEU 101K Tyres. Chaps, these are 235/75/15 from Cooper. I bought them through Blackstone, an internet supplier for £300 and they were fitted by my local garage. They do look a bit over the top I know BUT I have found motorway stability is much improved AND the gearing is up about 10%. As we actually use the car as our main car these things are significant. I bought an ex Range Rover LPG kit last year and am still summoning up the courage to fit it. Any advice on that would be welcome. Thanks again to Steve for booking the meeting, it was most enjoyable. See you all at the AGM then? Regards John (Stacey) Bristol Rep.

I am glad that everybody seemed to enjoy the day . This is my first attempt at organising a meeting such as this. I will be speaking to John Gartell about having another event next year for the end of September 2008, (as this seems to be an ideal end to the seasons events). I would also like to thank everybody who came along on the day with their cars. Kind Regards, Steve. (Dorset Rep)
