While I was in the UK recently, I obtained a replacement wiring loom for the roof area. This is the section that goes around the perimeter of the roof and connects to the interior lights and courtesy light switches. It looks fairly straight forward to install as I already have the headlining out and the various sections of interior trim beneath which the loom resides.
One thing I did find though (and this is very trivial) is that the replacement loom has spade connectors on the wires that connect to the courtesy light door switches whereas my original has lucar bullet connectors. I have ordered some new connectors and will simply replace the spade connectors. The new loom is from a P5B whereas mine is a 65 P5 MK11C. Interestingly only the courtesy light door switch wires have the spade connectors whereas the balance of the wires to the actual interior lights retained the bullet connectors.
I don't have the correct hex crimping tool for the lucar connectors and so will have to try another technique, any ideas?

The door switches are Spade connectors on the P5b the rest are bullet That's one big transition in time from Mkllc to a P5b its bad enough from P5b to P5b Bare back the wires and solder the bullet connectors on that is/was how it is done.

The loom is quite a bit different to a P5B so you will have to check connections carefully - the ammeter is direct connection not shunted and of course there is a dynamo and only 2 fuses but will of course benefit from upgrade. Note also that rear lights/battery main are on opposite sides (as is starter motor). Courtesy light switches are bullets but not a real problem! There will be no feed to to petrol pumps in the boot either.
The crimpers for bullets and Lucars can be bought easily from UK firms like Vehicle Wiring Products

Luckily he is only doing the roof loom Phil otherwise as you say it could be a can of worms.

As Phil said, i also bought my self a crimping tool. These are not very expensive and saves a lot of hassle. i have tried the soldering but its very time consuming.
