Have just fitted my new Stainless bumpers from Group Harrington they are looking good all the way from Ho Chi Minn City, had to wait around 32 days for them to get made and delivered, lifetime Guarantee, cost Near enough £800.00 delivered saving around £50 or £60 .to the ebay prices This price includes 4 Overiders and Rubbers, Bolts and rubber strips for overiders and you cannot tell the difference between them and chrome and a chrome Back bumper would cost you that without the overiders they even do Consessions for Clubs etc well worth buying shall try and upload some pics for members Norman

What they do is after you have payed for them they will email you to make sure the brackets are all measured for fixing to irons just in case they are different from what measurements they have, I had to go with their measurements as my bumpers did not have the rear bumper corner brackets on mine and had been buckled in the middle. I had to do minor adjustments to the holes in the bumper irons as the holes were very slightly out of line and adjusted with a round file, its actually easier if you take all the irons etc from the car I just took my time and they fit perfect now. The Overiders just bolt through the bumper, they dont have the fixing brackets that go behind the bumper, if you need any more info please get in touch, the bumpers were actually £793.00 delivered

Norman
Please email them and say you had to file the irons to get them to fit, it might help other people. If they could only move them a few mm as asked people could take the old one off and bolt the new one on with no problems.
Cheers Pete

The only problem I had was with the back bumper as it had been hit at some time in the middle and irons had to be bent into shape again hence fixing holes were slightly off , but they look great when on and there is no difference between them and chrome and with any reproduction item for cars body panels etc they never fit without a minor tweak here and there its not as if they have come off the original production line and for the price you cannot go wrong you would never get new bumpers and overiders for £800 anywhere in this country I am not like many members that have bottomless pockets, I enjoy restoring my P5b saloon myself norman

Norman, I agree with you on the economic side. I would like to have a set of SS bumpers too, but don't you think that even if it's cheaper than rechroming the old ones, it costs 800 and for that money ,in the 21st century, they could have put the bracket at the right place. And worse they don't take care of advices of potential customers. I'm fed up with the poor quality (materials or fittings) of the remanufactured items. Yes, you can always deal with some cutting here, welding there but, hey, it's 800£!
As my pockets are not bottomless either, I'll keep my old bumpers for the moment

Wow! Its worth their while doing this? Just shows you does'nt it? I know there are many good UK companies still making stuff but the last few British made parts I purchased for my van were frankly appaling quality! Would be interested to see pics?

This is worth looking into. Decent re-chroming over her in Australia costs around $2000 PER BUMPER excluding stuff like overriders.
So more details please.

I have the same old problem with my rear bumper rusted through in the corners, the front bumper is coming up for re-chroming, for the price of a JR Wadhams bumper, you can replace both front and rear along with the over-riders as well. I think I will be ordering stainless steel bumpers, fit and forget.

Norman that bumper looks superb! The thing with stainless though against chrome nearby is it gives off a slightly differnt light tone? You can normally tell if something is stainless rather than chrome of course even from a distance. How does is look compared to the chrome around the lights etc( or are they stainless?)
We purchased side steps in stainless for my other halfs Suzuki 4x4 a few years ago. I waxed them with my expensive waxs( see my recomendations) and basically the d**n things were hit with everything this country can throw at a car fpr 3 years. Every time I washed the car they just came up like brand new. Lets not knock quality just because things are made in the far east? They have got better over the years. As long as its the best quality stainless you can get it will outlive the car. I purchased a stainless tailpipe (uk made) for my van and although it has'nt rusted yet it looks aweful! I keep having to use solvall on it to stop it looking like a deep sea barnacle! It was'nt cheap either.... d**n I must get my P5 soon they look gorgeous

Hi Stan Honestly stan you really cannot tell them apart from the old chrome bumpers, there is lifetime Guarantee with them and only time will tell how they progress through the years the Stainless is not quite as thick as the old ones but what can you expect from repro`s the best thing to do is put Group Harrington into your search and look at their website for more info, but if you want get a set do not buy them through ebay because you pay £50.to £60 more for them buy them through harringtons website Norman

Thanks Norman. There is the small matter of buying a P5 first of course! Give me time I always get what I go after (well carwise anyway!)

Members should look in the members only section to obtain an extra discount of £30 bringing the price down to £763. You will find the password on the inside of the front cover (page 2) in Octobers Take Five. Look at the Editors Notice Board bottom RH side. This changes from time to time and the new password will be in Take Five. Group Harrington have altered the possition of the captured nuts and should now fit without any problems.
