Interesting! The P5B at Gaydon has the reg JGY 280 so it must have been transferred from the P5 to the P5B at some point. It is possible therfore that someone is running around in HM's old P5 and doesn't know it. I get confused by the JGY P5s. I have read that JGY 280 P5B is at Gaydon, but also that JGY 280K P5B is also at Gaydon. I can't remember what was there when I visited years ago. James Taylor's book implies that the first P5B was registered JGY 280K, subsequently transferred to the second one in 1974. So, was the first P5B then re-registered as JGY 280, and is that the one at Gaydon? I have seen a photo of a P5B with that number, but don't know where it was taken. However, assuming that the number was eventually transferred from the earlier P5, then there is (or was when I was there 20 years ago and took a photo) a dark green P5 saloon regd. 155 HYU, which had additional spot/fog lights in the style of the one earlier in the thread, in the 'motor garage' museum at Sandringham. So, possibly still 'in the family'.

Here's my contribution. My coupe and Deltic 22 at Bo'ness Station. Wouldn't a Napier Deltic engine have been a great alternative to the Buick V8? Probably a bit too thirsty and nose heavy though!

Incredible machines the Deltics, what power!
I remember a journey from York to Kings Cross in 1981 behind "Ballymoss" I was in the carriage behind the engine. What a thrilling journey. Those Deltics could certainly motor!
Sorry, a bit OT!

I see the train spotters have come out! Me too! My friend owns and helped to restore a Black 5, but in the same railway a Deltic or two. As mentioned seeing the engine laid out makes you realise how big and powerful these rascals are!!

Went to the NEC today (Friday) excellent show with many cars looking like new, but £27 to get in and if you were in a car £10 to park !
I was going to post a picture of the P5s, but my photobucket is not working !

Very nice, Paris registered, I believe? Interesting over riders I've only ever seen one P5B in France (I've been going there regularly 3 or 4 times per year for 10+ years), and that was an Admiralty Blue coupe in Paris, in the early 80's. British classic cars seem few and far between, unless they are all kept locked away.

You're right, tonys, it's a Parisian P5. It was taken during a run in Normandy, we were in our SD1, we had not our P5 yet
I have a friend who own a blue P5 B Coupé in Paris, may be it's his that you saw. There's a lot of hidden treasures in the garages in my area that's what a mechanis told me. I never seen them on the road. Better have a Poster
Photobucket doesn't work for me either
