Well, my time as the custodian of my Rover P5 Saloon has come to an end. The car has now gone to Upstate New York for the next part of its journey from derelict on the streets of Palo Alto, CA to wherever it is destined. This car sure did teach me a lot and I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for my next Rover owning opportunity. Thanks to everyone here for all of the help over the last year and a half!!! Tom

Great photo Tom Without prying, why have you decided to sell? No need to answer if you don't want to

Sorry to hear that news, not having a rover does not have to stop you dropping in here, you are always welcome, car or not.

Sorry I haven't responded back, I forgot to bookmark the thread!
I had a lot of fun with the car, but my driveway is way too full at this time, and I need to thin the herd, as they say. In short, I am a serial acquirer of old cars. I love the looking, sorting, and driving, but this also means that I have to be a serial seller, too, as I only have so much cash and space.
As you all have seen, I resurrected the car after it had been standing on a curb in Palo Alto for some time. I enjoyed getting the mechanicals sorted, though the cracked cylinder head was an unwelcome surprise. It provided me my first opportunity to work that intimately with a motor, though, and the car's automatic was the first one I had the temerity to open up and work on a little, so I definitely learned a lot.
To really enjoy the car fully, I would have had to paint it and re-do the leather, though, and I am just not a restoration guy. Some people really enjoy that sort of project, but I am not one of them.
I really have had a wonderful time with the Rover, but sanity dictated that I reduce the number of vehicles I have requiring care and feeding, so the Rover has found a loving new home. Now I need to get the MGB GT back together (overdrive upgrade) and sort out the MGC GT (automatic transmission cable). At least one, and possibly both of those cars will also be looking for a new home in the coming months.
I will indeed be keeping my eyes peeled for another P5, though a Riley 2.6 looks to be on the radar right now, ready to join my Riley 1.5...it's a sickness, I tell ya'!

Sad day indeed - but not the end of it I'm sure + you can be proud that you have enabled another P5 to live on in pastures new! - even if it is a left hander!

Any photos of your Riley, Tom? The 1.5 is one of my favourite cars.

Thanks Tom. Haven't seen one in years. That photo could easily have been taken here.
Despite what I said about BMC badge engineering in another post, I take it all back for that Riley and its Wolseley 1500 sister. I liked them better than their Austin/Morris origins.
Is that an RM in the 3rd last photo in your album? I'd like one of those please. It's even longer since I've seen one.

Warwick,
In the three photos of the Riley Club's AGM towards the end of the album, you can see the following, in addition to the 1.5s:
- Adelphi Saloon - Two RMF 2.5L Saloons - Two RMC Convertibles - Two RMD Drophead Coupes - Imp (what a beautiful little beast!)
There were actually two imps in attendance, but only one shows up in the photos; the other showed up late and was mostly trailer-bound.
