Dennis wrote Date: 12/13/2004 4:42 pm EDT Does anyone know whether the P5B Powersteering box can be fitted to a Rover 75 P3? I'm thinking of purchasing a P3 but the steering is heavy, and my P5B has fantasticly light steering.
The seller suggested it might be possible, and said further that the dynamo on a 3ltre P5 has a powersteering pump attached at the rear and could eliminate a further pulley driven pump.
Sorry, I know this is a P5 site, but we're all Rover lovers, and I don't know of an equivalent site for other Rover models as good as this one.
Dennis.
The P3 set up is entirely different to a P5 - more like a P4 I think for which a Opel Rekord/Carlton box has been used.
The pump drive off a 3 Litre(Rover & Austin) could be used but a separate pump is better either belt or electric.
You will not find a much lighter steering that the V8 even the 3 Litre is heavier

Dennis wrote Date: 12/13/2004 5:28 pm EDT Great site Phil. I tried to reply on the new site, but it showed 'error'. Do you mean that P4s can be converted with Opel or Calton box, and that you know of no conversion possibility for a P3. Phil - Nottingham replied Date: 12/13/2004 6:25 pm EDT You need to Register and Log in - its dead easy. And its yes to both of your questions but anything is possible where there's a will etc it's just that some people ie the ones that do not use these boards who may have tried it are not prepared to share their experiences either through here or Take 5

On a slightly different note . How easy is it to remove a steering box from a p5b? Is it an afternoons work or is it pretty stressful?
