Would really appreciate details of any mods people are doing to be sent to me so I can include details in the new modified article section of the club mag. Sadly due to personal commitments I missed the next magazine but will have something in the following one. Since the lauch of the modified club email address I have had exactly ZERO emails with details of peoples mods so it would be really good to share these ideas and practical experiences with the rest of the membership. Get your car in the mag! E: modified@ roverp5club.org.ukGetting back to 'coup' ing. My convertible has been converted to 2 door but I need to lengthen the doors, move the piller back and modify the rear door shut section. Reckon I'm going to need some Dutch courage before the angle grinder comes out! (but not too much ) As that dipstick on Wheeler Dealer says...measure twice & cut once ;D Big Kev.

here's my p5 with a mock up of the wheels I'll be fitting... Mmmm giving me mod idea's... Went to see my friendly Jag garage owner yesterday & he's converting cars into having air bag suspension. He's getting the "bags" from the states as they are 2/3 cheaper than here in the uk. Maybe a fully sorted P5 would look the business? ;D Big Kev.

Hey I reckon the P5 mod stuff is great as I enjoy doing these projects myself, but please clarify whether it's real or just a design exercise. For those interested, the 'Nodsmods' posts on this forum illustrate some real world fabrication skills to a P5.

I wonder if it's real? well photoshop can be quite deceiving it's difficult to tell. Question is would it be driven around like this I wonder

You may get away with the fronts but unless the rear is solid I would have thought there may be a burning rubber smell at times I don't think you would get away with inverted wheels in the UK too many TC with sharp eyes

Widening wheels to the outside on the front suspension actually increases the loads on the suspension and can create both more load on the steering and twitchiness with regard to road feel. (Steering Axis Inclination)
It's good practice...if you want the car to handle and steer well, if the front wheels are widen in both directions so that the steering geometry and the 'steering axis inclination' is not adversely affected. By being aware of these factors its possible to improve on some factory settings...as there was no adjustability built into the P5's front suspension geometry, apart from the height setting.
Split the difference both ways and it will be fine and still look cool.

Some may remember this I nearly bought in in 83,but leather had been pulled out and kitted with light blue draylon, the chrome had peeled off, cracks around the filler. How about wires

The wires look right for the car but not for the cars colour . Nice location shot , yellow post box pretty flowers .,, Germany ?

Would it be a lot cheaper to buy a new set of alloy wheels then to chrome the rover wheels?.

If i were to imagine that there are no such thing as rostyles (heaven forbid) and found my p5b coupe on a stack of bricks (not unlikely where i live) i would be trying to find a set of cragar 5 spokes that fitted! Those Cragars on McGills post are exactly what i was thinking of! Strikes me that the only thing against them is financial outlay and the obvious charms of a nicely restored set of rostyles!

Cragas, they won't fit under the rear arch on a p5 unfortunately.

Shame! Then my alliegence to rostyles is complete and i feel guilty for having my head turned. (but those cragars are so shiny!!!) "Work in Progress" on this project with David Green samples are on the way I have seen the results and they are very impressive A new process and no it's not Chrome and is VERY durable for the guys who don't want to pay 2k+ for Chrome but like the original look of Rostyle Probably come in two options with the segments painted Satin Black or a DIY segment paint obviously this would be less ££! the main requirement is the wheels will have to be good condition ie not curbed or heavily pitted on the wheel front Early days but have a word with David if you are interested? They sure look good! Nice to know that there is work being done along those lines. I will have to stick to autosol and elbow grease for a while either way but surely an option for anyone tempted to change their wheels. I think rostyles are taken for granted sometimes, maybe as you dont often see them in 'as new' condition. I guess that if the desire to change to period alloy wheels is purely cosmetic then all that im saying is give rostyles a chance!

My own opinion is the Rostyle is the best looking wheel on a P5b I know others may have a different opinion and that's fine! but a modern wheel on a Classic car doesn't do it for me sorry The chrome is hard to photograph so when the samples arrive Tuesday I will compare against my Re-Chromed Rostyles and take a picture

Same here. Rostyles properly painted black are the only wheels for the P5b. Anything else just looks wrong IMHO.

I must say alloy wheels do not look right on these cars. John is this a way that you can refurbish the rover wheels without taking them apart.
