Built 21st Jan 1959 and is the 20th Auto off the line for the home market. The chassis is 6309-00020. Dispatched to Henlys, London 10th Feb 1959 and registered 262 JPB (Surrey CC). It is smoke grey with red upholstery and resides in Scotland. Only 768 built! Is this the oldest auto or even oldest Mk1 surviving?

Cant really say as it is not my purchase but the new owner has been in touch with me. At £5450 asking it looks to be good if its condition is like the photographs. Mine has insurance valuation of £7500 but I have had to spend on it to reach that figure and from the photos, the other one looks to be Concours.

The new owner of this car has brought it along to the local pub meet, he did a part exchange for the car with another Mark one car he had bought in the early part of 2012. That car was in Heather brown with a green interior, and was in fair condition, the grey car is in much better condition having spent much of its recent life in a museum. The owner is still working on the car to bring it up to scratch, his trip to Ratho was the first run since it arrived in Scotland. His biggest current concern is getting the screen wipers working, ( it does rain up here from time to time). Click on this link to see the car as it was on display. photo of car in museum

This vehicle was sold at Brightwells auctions early last year the hammer price was 3400 pounds i was thinking of bidding on it as it is probably the oldest surviving mark 1 with automatic transmission. Its such a shame these cars dont fetch much money even in mint condition But i already have the oldest known Mark 1 which needs a little money spending on it this year so funds are a bit limited if i want to get it back to A1..It was built on 7th November 1958 just 6 days after the Rover P5 was unveiled at the 1958 motor show which finished on November 1st 1958.I have been promising myself to get it ready for the last 3 years but the wife keeps finding me other things to spend my money on.Hopefully it will be ready for the national rally in September fingers crossed check it out classiccars.brightwells.com/viewdetails.php?id=2939

Nice, you gotta love an original car. I like the innovative speaker grille & the square clock in the round hole. I do hanker after another 3 litre.
