Hi all,
New to the forum and recently acquired a 1963 P5 Coupe. The last road tax on it is dated Feb 1978 and I can believe that is the last time it was on the road- I have even got a log book for the car that pre-dates the DVLA - it is an RF60 stamped by Surrey County Council although it is now registered (after some effort) with the DVLA on its 1963 plate.
Anyway back to the main the main point - is there a book out there that details the restoration process of a P5. I have done an MGB GT and an XJ6 but can't see anything on P5's - not even a Haynes manual. I know these books are not the 'be all' of restoring a car but they can be useful.
Thanks Eddie

Welcome Eddie. Bits and bobs have been written in the past in classic car mags and the like, but nothing full on such as a haynes. The most usefull pair of manuals in my opinion would be the parts manual, and the workshop manual, both full of everything you will need, and are available through the owners club. This forum and its users are also a gold mine of collective minds, who wil always have, or know a way to fix problems on these cars. And we all love pictures. Welcome aboard.

Thanks all for the advice which is duly noted.
The car came with no keys but there is a couple of key codes on the passenger door post plate. FR and FS each followed by three numbers. Is it still possible to get keys cut with these codes and if so, are we talking about specialist key cutters.
Regards Eddie

It is possible to have keys cut using those numbers, I think someone asked this question a while back, you will have to use the search option in the toolbar above

If you have the full key numbers then NOS key are literally avaibable off the shelf at any decent autojumble and even secondhand. I got a NOS FS key from the local Austin 7 National annual rally AutoKarna for £2 only 2 weeks ago. Timpson even had modern FS and FR blanks to get extra ones cut once you get one that fits. It helps if you fill in a rough location in your profile
