Hello Gents,
Good to meet you. Hope you don't mind me jumping on here, as (not yet) a P5B owner. But am searching for some advice.
I have always had a penchant for the grace and good looks of the P5B since my late Uncle rolled up to my folks house in one when I was around 4. What a machine! A few years later (it was 1979) I feel the urge to try and get myself behind the wheel of one of these beauties. Not at all mechanically minded but willing to attempt a steep learning curve, I am looking to maybe attend some meets, take some advice, and perhaps try to 'test-drive'/rent one for a few hours or a day to get a feel. I am based in Battersea south west London, but very willing to travel.
Do you think one of you gents could point me in the right direction? Any help gratefully received.
Many Thanks, Ben.

Hi Ben, have you had any offers yet? I bought mine without ever driving one and I have not been dissapointed.

Keep a 'search' going on eBay for Rover P5 or P5B what ever you're looking for. They often come up, but be advised to take someone with you to look carefully at the offerings. there is a lot of bad repair jobs that are passed off as "restored".
Always ask on here, as someone will be willing to help. We all like to see our cars on-the-road so to speak - not many left now.

Hi Mr D. They say you should never meet your heroes as you risk disappointment but i wanted a p5 from the age of about 9 and 23 years later two test drives and several viewed cars later it was well worth the wait. There is a p5b on a classic car hire fleet out there (sorry cant remember which) a google search will find it im sure seems like you are on the right tracks, get to some shows and chat to owners (they're a pretty friendly bunch) and joining the forum is a great plan! Ive owned my p5b coupe for about 7 years and have never once taken its charms for granted. Its off the road at the moment and i miss driving it and the pleasure that brings to me and those who see it used. Hope you get the chance to scratch that itch, trust your instincts, your 4 year old selfs sense of wonder and your late uncles sense of style and taste. Best of luck, forgive the pun, but im sure any P5 will live up to your great expectations....(sorry)
