I have always wanted one of these I think it was after seeing one in the film by Wim Wenders "Until the End of the World"
If I wanted to get a car that is not a complete nail what am I looking to pay?, I ideally would like to get something that is structurally and mechanically Sound that I could then do up to a reasonable standard without having to spend 1000s
I would like to use this car day to day and am not a Purist so would look to bring the car into the modern era by fitting a more modern version of the V8 such as an EFI version. And uprating headlamps and other electrical items and perhaps the breaks as well.
Is this something many have tried to do?

Chris, you could have a look in Practical Classics at the guide prices given per condition, some people may disagree with them but it's a starting point.
Good luck.
Big Kev. ;D

...the engines are sweet in the cars as long as you find a good runner – for which you're looking at about £3–4,000.
The only thing I'd upgrade, having had one for a while, would be the three- speed auto borg warner box to, perhaps something with an overdrive or a manual box with 5 speeds... simply because I feel the gears in the BW 35 are a little too short for the lovely, torqued-up V8, which could easily sit on a tonne given the right gear ratio...
purists always disagree with me on this point...
Other things to look for when buying, if you want one that can keep up with modern requirments, is an electronic fuel pump, Kenlow fan and modern alternator. These should make it start up and run with no problems.
