Hi Freddy we seam to have lost the topic why are you going the Lacquer route powder coating is brittle enough and adding Lacquer to it will make taking the filter apart for service reasons a bit risky not to mention assembling it but good luck anyway

The meanderings of some of these threads is the main disadvantage for a really useful archive. Sometimes the original subject is lost entirely!
Still that is one of its purposes

Quite smart obvious you have had vaporisation trouble - does it work? I think its the metal tubing running from the reserve valve to the pump that overheats the fuel so that the already worn and underpowered AC pump cannot cope
Convert to electric - never bother again

No vapourisation trouble so far,I can't say I've taken her that far yet,and the car does have an electric pump fitted already.

The photograph doesn't do it justice actually, dark to much flash..it doesn't look too bad in reality actually looks like a braided sleeve. I take it that it doesn't do any harm, whilst not being strictly neccesary any more?

No - in fact if its pukka braiding some owners do "enhance" flexi's with this and it may prevent chafing. Anyway it gives point scorers something to note

Hi Freddy my concern is the bonding between the two products my advice would be 2k all the way or Powder-coat which can be a gloss not the combination of the two I am sure some one more knowledgeable than myself will give you the definitive answer

A nice smart engine bay, just a couple of quid for a set of labels to fit above the radiator will give the finishing touch.

Oh dear! What will you all say about my stainless steel radiator top plate when its fitted. My engine bay looks very different at the moment because its very empty and some pillock had painted everything with black underseal: It looks better already after some scraping, gunk and power washing. The new engine arrived today and will be built up and go in over the next week or so.

Thanks, when I first had the car I sprayed the underbonnet area with waxoyl ! It took ages to get it all off when I moved to a house with a decent garage 25 years ago. Nothing has been chromed, just polished with autosol.

Very nice too George. I saw you turn up at the Eastern Rally last year but didn't get around to meet you. She is a beauty though.
