I can't believe I found a Rover up here and in incredible condition. She was on craigslist, and I found her in a seedy area of town, sitting off an alley in this guys backyard, with weeds and grasses growing up around her. It's been stored inside, heated, for 30 years now, and this young kid inherited it and didn't know what he had really, thank god. So he put her on craigslist and I saw her in the first 20 minutes, called and now she's mine, in a few hours when the title office opens. I'm going to need a few things for her, and will NOT be driving her here in Anchorage over the winters. No no no. So, just checking in here and as soon as I have the title I'll post the vin, if there is one, and maybe someone out there will have info about this car. I think this is a Mk III, but maybe Mk II? Not sure and it all seems a bit confusing to be honest. No badge of this BUT she's missing the trim on both sides and it goes from one end to the other, all the way down the car, bumper to bumper. Also, the seating area in the back are divided with two sitting spots, a fold-up armrest between, and a little cigar or cigarette ashtray as well. Also, there are little air vent windows in the front and back, not just the front.
Would love to load a couple of photos into this but my photos are just on my desktop, and there doesn't seem to be a way to do that. So, Hello everyone. Will be joining the club soon so I will have access to all the parts info and parts folk out there. I feel like a new mom adopting an abandoned princess. I found her with weeds growing up over the tires, and wet inside a little, moss here and there... The guy said he got her from a friend who owed him money, and his friend got the car from his dad who just passed away. Okay, and she's been outside all summer, so not too bad yet. Now she's with me and I've already found a nice rental garage where I can work on her this winter. I'm so excited!!! Can't wait to drive her. Yes, she drives no problem and smooth as silk. Taking her to my mechanic who is a Volvo Master Technician and has a brilliant mind, very progressive about everything to do with foreign cars. He is really excited as well. I would trust this guy with my life and I know he will be very conservative and very careful. I've told him that I want her in top condition with Rover parts, if possible. I'm open to any and all suggestions.
Thanks,
Robin in Alaska
