Hey guys i need to pick your brains on the mounting differences between the P5 i6 subframe and the P5b subframe. Would there be fabrication needed to swap the two over? Or are the mounting areas the same on the two cars.
Another quick question is does anyone know the ammount of wiring that has to be changed/soldered in etc when fitting a V8 into a i6 car? Any pointers would be much appreciated.
p.s. i can never see myself getting rid of this car so resale/originality does not really bother me. It will eventually have a modern 4.6 range rover engine with injection so it can be used reliably on a daily basis.

the body mountings are identical - the V8 requires an extra V shaped tubular mount for the front engine mounts - it does not have rear mounts as the 6 either
The wiring is not much different especially if a Mk 3
Its really just the gearbox inhibitior switch if not, Alternayors and the main battery cable has to shortened and run under the o/s sill door step trim instead of under the n/s one Or you could just extend teh cable from the redundant solenoid to the pre-engaged solenoid.
You muts use the inadequate mechanical petrol pump from the V8 or substitute one or 2 Facet electric pumps for the twin SU as this cannot deliver sufficient output for a V8 on full throttle or run it as a twin
The rev counter if a coupe will be no good either
