Before I pull everything apart just wondering if anyone knows the exact dimensions of the P5B's front dashboard speaker?
I used Search function but couldn't find a definitive answer.
Seems a member called Baldrick uprated his original system with a RetroSound radio with modern speakers which fitted in the existing positions rather than drilling into doors etc. It's something I'd like to do. I've PM'd him but seems he is no longer active here?

Padraig (Baldrick) sold Winston about 6 months ago and it (he) went to Germany, if I recall correctly.

He used the retro sounds dual coils to replace the standard as I recall. There are only 2 sizes so should be fairly easy to work out which.
Still something I want to do one day!

There seems to be about 6 dual coils on offer these days ... www.classiccarstereo.co.uk/classic-car-speakers/autosound-classic-speakers.html4' x 8", 7" x 5", 4" x 8", 6" x 9", 4" x 10" and 6" round. From Baldrick's photos it looks like he may have squeezed in the 7" x 5" ?

Im pretty sure that the original speaker in mine was oval with a black mesh between the speaker and the grill? But not really relevant as anything that fits can go in there!

My itchy Ebay finger was hovering over a RetroSound radio last night. Far cheaper (as usual ) to buy from the USA even with P&P factored in than from the RetroSound shop less than 5 miles down the road...

Trouble is, the international customs charges normally eats up any savings you may have made from buying direct from US.

It still looked cheaper even with shipping but hard to say. Shows how much we are paying as premium though!

I am prepared to take my chances on import duty. About 95% of my purchases from non European sellers get through without surcharge. A few years ago I ordered a full set of brake discs and pads from Canada for a Ford Explorer. The consignment was split into 2 packages because of the weight. I was charged import duty on one of them but not the other. The total cost was still around £150 cheaper than buying in the UK... And on the subject of the Ford Explorer, my local Ford dealer wanted £35 + VAT for a thermostat. I got the same genuine Ford part from the USA for £15 including P&P. It was made in Italy... long live Rip Off Britain!
