Have located a new complete headlining with the frame and need to clean it up - any advice on the best cleaners/techniques here as its flimsy and i don't want to knacker it... I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong but this material doesn't clean easily and stains are almost impossible to remove. I used a solution of "vanish" in warm water but it didn't make much difference to my headlining which was pretty clean to start with. It does freshen it up and won't do any harm. I would avoid any strong chemical solvent cleaners.

its a nightmare getting out the old headlining still on its frame and putting the new one in through the door but it is possible. Usually done when one of the screens is out. Remove steering wheel, centre console and gear selector stalk. And be careful not to twist it too much or you will tear the cotton sleeves on the suspender rods.

Thanks for the advice - i am going to have the screen rubbers replaced so will do the headlining then. I will probably use some AutoGlym interior cleaner on it as i don't think there is any magic treatment out there...

I recently used some STPĀ® 'Tuff Stuff' on an old filthy pair of P5B sun visors and they came up really, really clean and nice. Take a look on EBay here ... tinyurl.com/pafmupz
