My Rover got through the MOT last Friday. Pleased about that.
I was doing the stuff inside the car as I knew where the switches were. The tester eventually got to "flashers" - sorry, haven't got any. "Really ?" - yes really, never fitted to mine. Ok - move on.
I had bought a unit a while ago so as I had to get the horn working and repaired the indicator self cancel and the headlight flasher before the MOT, I went back to it and thought I would do the flasher unit as well. Not too bad to do after I got over the cricked neck.
When I repaired the horn and the self cancel, I found the reason for them not working was that the contact ring was nowhere near the contact and not located. The reason being was that the clamp that goes on the column was on the wrong way around and the contact ring / indicator cancel ring could not be located in the centre. !!
Cheers
Colin
Thought I would add a bit more to this.
Tip ! Don't forget that there are 4 screws after you remove the the steering wheel that help to hold the column shrouds on.
1st This is the horn ring off and shows bracket wrong way around
2nd This is with horn ring on and bracket the right way around
3rd Shows horn ring and indicator bracket re-installed
